OUR STORY

IT ALL STARTED IN GILBERT, ARIZONA...
Cornucopia was started in Arizona by the Severson family, born out of our backyard's blackberries. Every summer we would pick the fruit from these thorny bushes to make jam and send it to our family in places that didn’t have blackberries, giving them a taste of our home and what we worked so hard to create. In the Summer of 2020, quarantine forced our family to come back together and spend more time with each other. What if we tried making blackberry wine this summer? The idea of making wine started as a joke, but was also an underlying curiosity...
So we gave it a shot - we made a 5 gallon batch of blackberry wine and after a few months of fermentation we finally tried it. What do you know, it was actually pretty good! It was unlike any wine we've had before- smooth and rich, complemented by blackberry flavors that made it unique to us. Berries harvested by all of us, wine brewed by Brock and Dad, bottled by Lars, and labeled by Swen and Mom. Beginning as clueless novices to the craft, our family worked together to create authentic and tasty wine bottles that we could call our own.
WINE MADE FROM A VARIETY OF FRUITS
Later that summer one of our neighbors caught wind of the operation and offered us some peaches to make wine with. They had extra fruit they didn’t want to waste and we promised to give them a case of their own peach wine in return. We fermented a batch of peach wine and it turned out wonderful! Fresh, crisp, vibrant, and embodying the signature sense of peach that brings you back to a summer picnic. Soon enough another neighbor with apricot trees reached out, and then we tried oranges, then plums, and so on and so forth until we realized what we truly created.

We never knew that making wine out of so many different fruits was possible. And as it turns out, we aren't the only ones! So many people are unaware of how delicious, fun, and unique fruit wines are! Unfortunately, we limit our wine drinking experience to grapes and miss so much of the other flavors and variety other fruits have to offer. And that's our mission- to share the adventure into completely unique, fruit wines with those around us.
THE CORNUCOPIA COMMUNITY
This sense of community and rapport built around fruits, friends, and family is what Cornucopia embodies. The idea of harvesting and sharing locally-grown fruits in return for crafted bottles of wine. Utilizing an abundance of fresh produce to share a totally unique wine-drinking experience with each other.
The symbol of a cornucopia signifies abundance and a fruitful harvest. As an industry so focused on rarity, wine should instead lend people a sense of variety, adventure, and accessibility. With various fruit wines, we want to provide abundance of community. Meaningful experiences with family and friends, brought together with a true variety of delicious wine.
